20. CROME / Excel Macro Configuration Logo

To use the canned Excel graphing macros provided by CROME you must configure your Microsoft product with the product, as a policy Quantum will not automatically install this macro due to the following:

·         Virus concerns.

·         The many possible permutations of OS/Excel releases.

·         IT standards of various clients that use the CROME system.

Windows 98/2000/XP Top

From the main Excel title bar menu use the drop down Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Record.

Make sure you set “Store macro in” to “Personal Macro Workbook”, this will create your global macros if you have not already done so.

Hit the OK button, then you should see a small pop-up window immediately hit the button provided to STOP recording.

From the main Excel title bar menu use the drop down main menu Window, point to Unhide and you will get a pop-up as follows:

Select Personal and hit the OK button.

From the main Excel title bar menu use the drop down main menu Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click “Visual Basic Editor”

Select the module you just created (i.e. a bogus empty Macro) in the Modules folder.

From the main Visual Basic (above) title bar menu use the drop down main menu File menu point to “Import file”, Navagate the file selection dialog as show below ( typically the CROME application is installed in “C:\WebApps\Crome”, once you are in the installation directory continue down into the file system to the config directory as showen below:

Now set the combo box Files of Type item to (*.*) such that the file macro appears and select the OPEN button.

This will load the CROME macro from the file “macro.txt” that is automatically installed when you load the CROME system onto your computer.

At this point simply close the Visual Basic editor i.e. File/Exit.

From the main Excel title bar menu use the drop down main menu Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click “Macros” you will then see the a pop-up that allows you to select specific Macros..

Select the CromeGraph1 Macro and the hit the Options button to get another pop-up

We typically recommend ctrl-g for invoking the Graph macro, to do this type a lower case “g” into the field and hit the OK button.   To close the previous pop-up (you may also hit Cancel).

The final step is to hide your personal macro workbook again this is done as follows: From the main Excel title bar menu use the drop down main menu Window, point to Hide.  Then close and exit your Excel application and answer YES to the final pop-up

At this point you have a Macro that is capable of graphing data that is exported into Excel.  You may try it after you do an export function as described in “Report Export Functions”.
